Photos of the event

On Friday the 29th of September, during the European Sport Week, our Federation presented Mini Bridge to about 140 kids of the 5th and 6th form of the 3rd Elementary school of Lakatamia. It is one of the biggest Elementary schools of Nicosia with about 380 students, who are active in many school clubs.

The presentation was made by Mrs Marianna Koroni, a physics teacher, in charge of the Athens Open Schools, which are exclusively sponsored by the Stavros Niarchos foundation (, and a committee member of the Greek Bridge Federation, and who has been teaching Mini Bridge to kids in Athens with a lot of success.

Mrs Marianna Koroni was a guest of our Federation.
The success of the presentation was helped by the CBF members Annita Michaelides, Demitris Savva, Alex Violantis as well as the CBF President Aleka Astreou and the members of the CBF Committee Errikos Leonidou, Panos Panayides and Rena Livera.

The kids were divided into two groups of 70 and each group took part in a 45 minute presentation. They were told and shown photos of local, national and international competitions in which Greek kids took part. They were introduced to bridge via Mini Bridge, they played some rounds and most of them loved it.

It was a first step to discover a game that is played in schools all over the world, including Greece.  A game that certainly teaches kids HOW to think!

Read the poster of the Greek Bridge Federation (EOM) about Mini Bridge to the Athens Open Schools, that led to a lot of kids taking part in this great mind game.

What is bridge ?  The most exciting, entertaining and clever game in the world. Recognised as a mind game, with millions of fanatical supporters all over the world. Competitive bridge is a game played with a pack of 52 cards, divided into small teams. It sharpens the memory, the imagination, the right judgement and the compound thought. Four players at a square table, create, per pair, a team that tries to win as many tricks as possible. With a little theory and a lot of playing, the lessons lead to a big Bridge tournament that will give us the winner. The lessons are addressed to teenagers, just once a week, and it’s for 1.5 hours.
